A gift from the orphanage

Kavanna was in foster care and her care was overseen by the Yulin Social Welfare Institute orphanage, which presented us with some gifts:  a silver bracelet with her name engraved on it and a disc with 79 photos of her, which are priceless to us.  Here are some of them.
The Yulin SWI.  Kavanna was found outside the gates of this orphanage.

Isn't she cute?
Very bundled up!
Kavanna and her foster mom.  She went into foster care when she was two months old.  I've been wearing Kavanna in a sling ever since we got her, just like her foster mom did, and I think it's been crucial in terms of our bonding.
The foster families at the Yulin SWI.
Kavanna and two of her friends.  Check out those very disparate hairstyles!!
Kavanna is a happy girl.
Kavanna and her foster mom again
Kavanna and her forever family (minus one sister, who took the photo)

That is an incredible gift that will last a lifetime. To have baby photos and to have had a foster mom. No wonder she is such a happy girl. I am so happy that she was in such a good place and that they went to all the effort to share that with you.
Oh, and tell Ariel I hope she feels better soon! What a big trip and transition for her too. It's gonna be wonderful for those two to have each other.

What a priceless gift to have those pictures.

I have to say that picture of the 'hair sisters' with the little baldie in the middle is a heart-stopping cute photo.

Nina,
What a wonderful gift. Our Syri is in the same orphanage and we hope to be traveling to pick her up in 6-7 weeks. I am part of GW's 2/17/06 LIDers. 10 of the 13 families have babies from this orphanage. Once you are home and settled I would love to talk to you about your trip.

It has been so much fun following your trip. Kavanna is so precious.

Regards,
Joanne
